What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is an event where programmers come to learn and explore programming with workshops and collaborative projects. In our case, a hackathon is an event where programmers will compete against each other for prizes with their innovative projects.

Where is the Hackathon?

Our event will be held at Tech Nexus on the 12th floor of the Civic Opera House in Chicago, Illinois. The event will go from May 27th to May 28th as a 24 hour overnight event.

Who can participate?

Any high school student! Including Class of 2017 graduates who may have graduated prior to the event date.

I don’t know how to code! Should I still come?

Yes!!! Our hackathon is the perfect place to learn about programming with all our different workshops we will offer at the event.

Will there be security at the event?

There will be security for the entirety of the event to ensure the safety of all our attendees.

How much does your event cost?

Our event is entirely free! Food will be provided throughout the entire duration of the event. We will also be giving a T-Shirt to all students who attend the event.

What Should I Bring?

Your laptop, any amenities you require, chargers, and your innovative spirit. Also a pillow in case you decide to sleep! We will need you to bring your High School ID for attendance at the event.

Will there be Prizes?

Yes! We have many prizes available courtesy of our sponsors. Some examples of prizes we will have are Wolfram Language subscriptions or a $200 Amazon Gift Card. Certain prizes will be awarded based on best in that category, and many giveaways throughout the event!

What can I create?

Anything you want! However, we hope that there are projects that create an impact or cause social change. Also, your project must be entirely made during the hackathon, but you may come to the hackathon with an idea already in mind.

Do you offer Travel Reimbursement?
